What is Leadership for a New Era?
Leadership for a New Era is a collaborative learning initiative of the Leadership Learning Community and partnering organizations. We launched this initiative to influence the practice of leadership development in a direction that is radically more inclusive, connected, and capable of collectively addressing complex issues in communities. We are partnering with people and organizations that have experience cultivating, unleashing, funding and evaluating leadership networks that are positively transforming the culture of leadership and producing results that are more just and equitable for communities. Our three goals are to:
- Create a website that provides multiple opportunities for sharing stories and resources, and engaging in discussions about leadership and networks;
- Produce a thought piece for leadership practitioners, funders, and researchers of leadership networks that demonstrates the value of leadership networks and provides advice about how best to unleash and support them; and
- Strengthen bonds between network practitioners, funders, and researchers who are working in diverse fields and contexts to ehance the capacity of leadership networks.
How can you contribute?
- Share a story. Tell us a story (in one or two paragraphs) about how your organization, foundation, or program unleashed or supported leadership networks; or what tools or approaches you used to evaluate or research leadership networks. Click on the share a story link.
- Contribute a resource. Let others know about a resource you have or on that you have found helpful. Link to the resource using the Bookmarks link. You may also browse resources by tags and popularity and vote for those resources that you find most helpful. (Your vote increases their value to others.)
- Start or contribute to a discussion. Pose a burning question to your colleagues with the Discussion link, or contribute to the discussions started by others in order to create a vibrant on-line community from which we all can learn.
- Fund this project. Funding will support the following activities: (1) Management and improvements to the Leadership Networks website so that it can serve community members; (2) Convening of leadership practitioners, funders, and researchers to share and explore lessons learned, and to synthesize collective wisdom; (3) Write and publish a field synthesis that makes the case for investment, and provides guidance to practitioners and evaluators of leadership networks.
- Become a partner. Is your work closely aligned with this initiative? Do you want to co-create resources for funders, practitioners, and evaluators of leadership networks? We seek partners who want to engage in a learning process and writing project to influence the field of leadership development. We believe that if we co-create and co-brand publications our collective influence will be enhanced and we will be more likely to transform the culture and practice of leadership development.
